A peaceful foggy morning

I had an early call this morning and saw that it was a beautiful beginning to the day.  There was a light fog hanging over the canal and the old golf course across the canal.  The scene was beautiful and peaceful.  There was no wind to disturb the water.  Here is a photo looking eastward.

Here is a view looking westward a few minutes later as the sun rose higher.  I love the reflections of the trees and the sky in the totally still water.

This morning an otter appeared across the canal again, though it was only one this time.  I didn't see the rest of the family anywhere around so this might just be a different one entirely.  He didn't stay there too long.

An uneasy peace was struck today between Muscovies Black Foot, his girlfriends Sweet Cheeks and Pretty Girl, and relative newcomer Blackie. All of them were head bobbing like crazy, even Blackie.  Maybe she is finally trying to assert herself a little bit.  Anyway, she was allowed to stay for a while with all the others, and have something to eat.  After a while, though, Black Foot had had enough Kum Bah Yah moments and ran her off.  She came back later when only Pretty Girl was there and they appeared to get along.  It seems that Blackie has developed a little limp; her left foot looks to be  bothering her.

One of the grebes came pretty close to the dock this morning.   I just love these pictures with reflections in the water.
